Economic Education FoundationTo solidify and expand upon the success of the Chapter's Secondary School Economic Education Program, the FEI Boston Chapter established the Economic Education Foundation, Inc. (EEF), a qualified charitable organization under IRS Chapter 501 (C)(3), in May of 2003. The foundation was needed to expand the Chapter's fund raising efforts in support of economic education, this in the10th anniversary of the founding of The Economic Education Program by the Boston Chapter of Financial Executives International.
Past Boston Chapter Presidents Emile Coulon and Morris McInnes launched the program in cooperation with Headmaster Cornelia Kelley of Boston Latin School in order to fill a gap in Economics Education in public secondary schools in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Today the program is managed by FEI member Dick Brunelle, who brings over 30 years of classroom and industry experience to this important role.
The EEF provides crucial financial and technical assistance to schools and teachers including developing curriculum, providing textbooks, and hosting workshops and meetings for Economics teachers to assist them in designing stimulating educational programs for their students. To date over 2000 students have received Economic education as a direct result of the EEF program. The EEF is funded entirely by the Boston Chapter through charity events including an annual golf outing, plus other fundraising efforts, and the generous contributions of our members and partners.
