Lawrence E. Weinstock, CPA

What better way to get the latest insight on developments in private company accounting and reporting than directly from a member of the Private Company Committee (PCC) of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) ?  You don’t want to miss the first hand perspective to be shared by Mr. Larry Weinstock, a sitting member of FASB’s PCC  at our Executive Event dinner on Wednesday evening October 19th.  Larry will discuss the key issues in private company accounting currently being addressed at FASB and even interject a  dose of humor into his remarks thanks to his avocation as a stand-up comic.  You’ll want to be there for this informative and fun evening!

Mr. Weinstock has over 35 years of business experience.  He is currently the Vice President of Finance for Mana Products, Inc., a mid-size Long Island City cosmetic manufacturer and distributor, where he is responsible for all financial, treasury, accounting and reporting functions.  He joined Mana in 1993 in his current position.  In 2003 he simultaneously helped start Profound Beauty Inc., an affiliated beauty distribution company, as its initial Chief Financial Officer, and coordinated its May 2004 Regulation A Offering Statement securities registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

His prior experience includes four years as Chief Financial Officer of Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc., four years as Director of Financial Reporting for Staff Builders, Inc., where he directed all internal and SEC reporting, and four years with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, where he rose to Senior Auditor.  He is a CPA, and holds a B.A. degree in Business Administration from Franklin and Marshall College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

Mr. Weinstock is 58 years old and lives with his daughter and assorted pets in Jericho (Long Island), New York.  Previously, he served as President of his Condominium Association, as a Board member for a technology company in Virginia, as a member of the South Huntington School District Board of Education’s Audit Committee, as a Trustee for the South Huntington Educational Foundation, and on the Advisory Board of Valley National Bank.  Mr. Weinstock is active on the NYSSCPA Nassau Chapter CFO and Financial Executive Committee, and serves as Treasurer for three charitable private foundations. He has been invited to speak many times regarding improving GAAP and on financial reporting for private companies.  In July 2004 he was appointed to the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s Emerging Issues Task Force, where he served for eight years as the representative for private companies in connection with the US GAAP standards setting process. In September 2012, he was selected by the Financial Accounting Foundation to represent private financial statement preparers and to serve as an original member of the Private Company Council, which was formed to work with FASB to determine whether and when to provide alternatives within US GAAP for private companies.
