This session will focus on current and future transformational technology in Finance such as Robotics Process Automation (RPA) & Artificial Intelligence (AI). The finance and accounting sector, given the heavy reliance on mass amounts of numbers and data, is a prime candidate for the automation offered by intelligent learning systems. RPA and AI have been implemented in multiple industries successfully and applications continue to expand.  We introduced RPA in session one and now our experienced panel will share specific case studies related to application, risk mitigation and benefits.  Join us to learn about the current state of RPA and AI as well as what the future holds during this interactive discussion.

 

 

PANELISTS

Jenna O. Switchenko, Risk Assurance Director- Boston, MA

Jenna is a Director in PwC’s Risk Assurance Financial Services practice. Jenna assists organizations with Risk, Controls and Governance as they design and optimize their internal control environment.  

She also has significant experience delivering third party assurance and public company internal control audits at global and boutique Investment Advisors, Private Equity firms, Asset Managers and benefit plan recordkeepers. 

Jenna also has experience with projects related to controls design within finance, compliance, technology and operational processes, as well as controls designs related to system implementations and upgrades.

Recently, Jenna has been applying her experience to assist organizations in understanding the impact of Robotic and Intelligent Process Automation on their risk and control environment, including assessing, designing and implementing controls to effectively mitigate risks associated with RPA. 

Jenna is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and received her BA in Economics from Union College.

 

 

Ravinder Thota, Executive Director, Analytics and Data Management Leader, EY

Background

  • Ravinder (Ravi) is part of the Advisory Services practice of EY. Ravi has over 22 years of IT strategy, robotic process automation, enterprise architecture and data management solutions experience with implementing large scale programs. 
  • Has strong technology background including RPA, ERP, complex service oriented architecture (SOA) , data architecture, analytics and data warehouses. He has successfully delivered large full lifecycle enterprise implementations leveraging proven methodologies and sophisticated global engagement economics tools 
  • Ravi has worked across multiple industries including Energy & Utility, Consumer Products, Life Sciences, and Financial Services. 
  • Ravi holds a masters in computer engineering from New Mexico State University and bachelors in computer engineering from university of Madras

  • Helped setup RPA innovation center and managing RPA implementation at a large global power and manufacturing company. EY RPA leader responsible for southeast.
  • Program director for the Audit Transformation’s project EY Helix, he was responsible for managing the development of bigdata analytics solution using Spotfire to support the audit process.
  • Delivered a large business transformation program to improve customer experience by implementing a new call center reservation system at a global media and entertainment company. This program achieved $20M cost reduction due to improved processes and reduction in legacy systems. Program impacted about 3000 business users
  • For a major pharmaceutical company:  Architected enterprise contracts management system, designed complex interfaces and data conversion processes to increase efficiency of law department's contract execution processes. Managed organizational change management within various departments to support this technology enablement
  • Managed a large scale customer information and product line transformation assessment of a global company to rationalize and streamline all enterprise level business intelligence, master data and planning applications. Based on the outcome of this assessment, a multi-year innovation and development program to improve customer information was launched
  • For a top 10 pharmaceutical company: Delivered a customer data warehouse and reporting solutions as part of a larger customer and vendor management transformation with extensive organizational change
  • Managed organizational change management and governance structures with various clients to support this information and data transformations
  • Delivered large scale SAP data conversion and data management projects
